Welcome to our site!
My family and I live in a lovely little valley in Northern California on 10 park like acres. We raise black arabian horses, and Araucana chickens. We also have goats for mowing lawns, ducks, pigs, and rabbits for meat, and various cats and dogs. My husband, brother-in-law and I, own our own commercial floorcovering business and travel all over the state for work. I manage their business, our farm and garden along with my daughter. My son-in-law and son work in the family business. Is the saying ” The family that works together, stays together”? No? Well, It is something similar I am sure.
We have longed to become more self sufficient and less reliant on stores for our food needs. It is a long slow process. One day we think we would like to be off grid and as self reliant as possible, but that is a long slow process as we ease into it. The first steps are to produce our own food, or at least as much as possible. I don’t think chocolate grows around here though, so there will definitely be limitations to what we can produce.
